ABOUT US

BAAN CELADON
THE STORY of 'Baan Celadon' or 'The House of Celadon' has started in 1989 with the two diligent founders, Kanda Kanjanakorn and Thatsanee Yaja. With Prachuap Suriyapor, a Production Manager for Baan Celadon, Khun Kanda and Khun Thatsanee have turned Baan Celadon into, now, a leading manufacturer of Thai celadonware (known as 'sankaloke' in Thai).

Baan Celadon is based in Chiang Mai, in the north of Thailand. Its products are high quality celadon ceramics with wood-ash glaze. Every piece is unique, being handmade, and all are created with the finest artistry of the potters, carvers and painters. Most of their production, such as tableware, household products, gifts and souvenirs, is sold to foreign visitors or exported all over the world.
With the first start, their business targets were:

1. to produce and market celadon products
2. to increase knowledge and awareness of the unique qualities of celadon porcelain
3. to support those who were interested in the past history of celadon, and
4. to foster a traditional Lanna-period ambience in their business.

Over the following years more Lanna-style houses were built, followed by showrooms, galleries and an exhibition hall in order to welcome visitors to enjoy some time in a traditional Lanna atmosphere.

SHOWROOMS

Our showrooms are now at Sankamphaeng and Doi Saket and in downtown Chiang Mai, and we will expand with showrooms in Bangkok, and other centers as well. The showroom is attractive and displays a wide selection of our products, as well as many 'masterpiece' hand-painted pieces and sets.

The showroom is an excellent place to select fine celadonware products, to enquire about how they are made, and to think about having Baan Celadon's skilled designers create new products to your requirements.

COMPOUND

The Baan Celadon compound, located about 10 kilometers from the main showroom at Doi Saket, is easily accessible from downtown Chiang Mai. Visitors can experience Lanna architecture and enjoy the spacious gardens and 'salas', and to visit our factory, showrooms and exhibition galleries.

At the Galleries and Exhibition buildings visitors can see some of the finest recent and past masterpieces of celadonware from the factory nearby. Also the display of the workmanship and skill involved in creating fine celadonware and the recreational activities evoking an atmosphere redolent of the ancient Lanna way of life are presented at the exhibition hall area.

These halls and gardens have hosted functions for groups from APEC, from OTOP (the One Tambon, One Product initiative of the Thai government) and groups of visitors from overseas. Social functions for Thai visitors from Bangkok, Chiang Mai and all over Thailand are also held in these atmospheric surroundings.

PRODUCTION AT A GLANCE
Baan Celadon is currently expanding its' product range, moving into new and different fields in home decor and accessories, international style collections of many types, and of course expanding and refining our current ranges of products.

Styles range from floral and other decorative patterns to Thai-style paintings transformed into exquisite finishes, in glazed or matte-finish.

The skilled workers at Baan Celadon are talented to throw and mould the products, carve and decorate their surfaces, apply decorative or finish glazing, and of course, fire the products in our kilns to produce the finest celadonware you can buy. Their skills are reflected in all of the products to be seen at our showrooms, and in our customer's shops and houses worldwide.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Baan Celadon plans to create specific ranges for the markets, in Thailand and abroad.

We also see potential for expanded use of celadon products in the garden, poolside and outdoor lifestyle markets. With its' cool colours and natural finish, celadon is an ideal material for products to supply this expanding market niche.

Currently a large proportion of our production is exported, either by individuals or by shops and stores.

And with the emergence of the spa-culture, with Thai spas renowned as world leaders, and with Thailand's growth as a quality tourist destination, there are many new markets to explore right here at home.

Baan Celadon is also aware of the diversity of world tastes and styles, and plans to create new products for these markets.

In addition to our traditional and contemporary Thai styles, we will gradually introduce production of new product ranges to suit the tastes of these many and varied markets.

Please feel welcome to visit our showrooms to truly appreciate the talents of Baan Celadon's team of artists, and the factory to see work-in-progress on new items.

We assure you of a welcoming smile and attentive service at all times.
